Neck lift
A neck lift is a surgical procedure that aims to improve visible signs of ageing in the neck and jawline. With age, many patients notice loose or sagging skin, fat accumulation under the chin, and muscle banding, which can result in a “turkey neck” appearance.
A neck lift addresses these changes by tightening the underlying muscles (platysmaplasty), removing excess fat, and redraping or excising redundant skin. It can be performed on its own or in combination with a facelift, liposuction, or chin augmentation for more comprehensive results.

The procedure typically takes 2 to 3 hours, depending on the extent of correction and whether it's combined with other facial surgery. It is usually done under general anaesthesia.
Most patients stay one night in hospital, although day-case surgery is possible in select cases and a compression garment or bandage is often applied after surgery to support healing and reduce swelling. Normally drains are inserted during the procedure and removed on the next day.

o Recovery time varies depending on the type and extent of surgery and your overall health
o Expect bruising, swelling, and tightness in the neck for the first 1–2 weeks
o Discomfort is usually mild and controlled with prescribed pain relief
o You may have drains in place for 24–48 hours, depending on the technique used
o Sutures are typically removed after 7–10 days
o Most patients feel comfortable returning to work and light social activities after 10–14 days, though some swelling may persist longer
o Avoid strenuous activity, bending, and heavy lifting for 3–4 weeks

Like all surgical procedures, neck lifts carry some risks. These may include:
o Bruising and swelling, especially under the chin and along the jawline
o Temporary numbness or tightness in the neck
o Visible scarring, usually well-hidden under the chin or behind the ears
o Infection or hematoma (blood collection under the skin)
o Asymmetry or contour irregularities
o Unfavourable scarring or skin necrosis (more likely in smokers)
o Unsatisfactory cosmetic outcome, potentially requiring revision surgery
Mr. Eccles will discuss your individual risk factors and expected outcomes during consultation.

A neck lift can provide results that last 10–15 years or more, depending on skin quality, lifestyle, and ageing. Although ageing continues, most patients maintain a more youthful neck contour long-term.
Maintaining a stable weight, sun protection, and healthy habits can help prolong your results.
