Professional profile
Mr. Eccles qualified as a dentist from the Royal London Hospital Dental School in 1985. He then spent two years working in maxillofacial surgery before pursuing a degree in medicine at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, qualifying as a doctor in 1992. In 1995, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS).
With a longstanding interest in reconstructive surgery, Mr. Eccles began his plastic surgery training in 1996. He specialised in head and neck as well as craniofacial surgery, undertaking several prestigious fellowships: head and neck surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital, microsurgery at Charing Cross Hospital, and aesthetic surgery at the Wellington Hospital in London. His craniofacial training was further advanced through a fellowship at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where he later took up a consultant post. At the end of his training, he was awarded the McGregor Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons for outstanding performance in the FRCS (Plast) examination. He joined the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery in 2004.
In 2006, Mr. Eccles was appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at both Charing Cross Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. From 2010 to 2020, he worked exclusively at Chelsea and Westminster. In 2020, he joined the craniofacial team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, where he continues to work solely within the NHS. He also holds an honorary appointment at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London, where he runs specialist neurofibromatosis (NF1) clinics.
Mr. Eccles is deeply committed to the education and training of junior plastic surgeons across both his NHS and private practices. He also contributes to the NHS London Strategic Working Group, helping to ensure that all children in London receive high-quality care.
In private practice, he operates at the Weymouth Hospital and the Cromwell Hospital Portland Hospital in central London, as well as the BUPA Cromwell Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in West London. His main clinical interests include reconstructive and aesthetic facial surgery, skin cancer management, and paediatric plastic surgery.
He is a past president of the Plastic Surgery Section of the Royal Society of Medicine and a member of both BAPRAS and BAAPS.

Mr. Eccles is a senior plastic surgery consultant in the multidisciplinary Craniofacial Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, where he works exclusively within the NHS. The unit provides comprehensive care for a wide range of complex paediatric craniofacial conditions, drawing on the expertise of a highly specialised team.
