Brow Lift

A brow lift, also called a forehead lift, is a surgical procedure designed to elevate a drooping or sagging eyebrow to restore a more youthful, refreshed appearance.

As we age, the eyebrows tend to descend, causing heaviness on the upper eyelids and contributing to a tired or stern expression. A brow lift raises the eyebrows to a more natural, youthful position and smooths out horizontal forehead lines and vertical frown lines between the brows.

This procedure is often performed alongside blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) or other facial rejuvenation treatments to achieve balanced, harmonious results.

  • The surgery typically lasts between 45 and 90 minutes. It can be performed under local anaesthetic with sedation or general anaesthesia depending on your preference and the surgical plan.

    Most patients have day-case surgery and go home the same day.

  • Expect some bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort around the forehead and eyes, which generally improves within 1–2 weeks.Stitches are usually removed after 7–10 days.

    Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and bending over for about 2–3 weeks.

    You can usually return to work and social activities after about 10–14 days, depending on your healing and comfort.

  • As with any surgery, a brow lift carries some risks, including:

    • Scarring, typically hidden within the hairline or natural forehead creases

    • Temporary numbness or tingling of the forehead or scalp

    • Bruising and swelling which usually resolves within 2 weeks

    • Asymmetry or uneven eyebrow height

    • Hair loss along the incision line (rare and usually temporary)

    • Infection or poor wound healing, uncommon but possible

    • Unsatisfactory cosmetic outcome, which may require revision surgery

  • A brow lift provides long-lasting results, often lasting 7 to 10 years or more. Natural ageing will continue, but the lifted brow position and smoother forehead often remain evident for many years.
